YMCA to Host Camp Green Mountain in Bennington

BENNINGTON, Vt. — The Berkshire Family YMCA announces open registrations in its new Camp Green Mountain to be held at the Bennington Recreation Center. Weekly sessions are from July 3-Aug. 18, with no camp on July 4.

The YMCA Camp Green Mountain develops the necessary building blocks for youth development by providing a safe, creative learning environment for young people to feel empowered, build self-esteem, explore personal interests, develop interpersonal skills and make lasting friendships and memories.

Held at Bennington Recreation Center, Camp Green Mountain will offer Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math (STEAM) activities. Activities also include swim time, recreational swim, field/group games, arts and crafts, Frisbee golf, team building, traditional sports and field trips to Willow Park.

Camp Green Mountain is available for children entering first through ninth grades. One-week sessions Monday through Friday go from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m, Camp is $70 for a one-week session; the town of Bennington as committed to subsidizing $29 for each one-week session for each child this summer, reducing the original cost from $99. Bennington Recreation Center is located at 655 Gage St., Bennington, Vt.

The YMCA is also registering for its Camps Sumner and Abenaki. Weekly sessions are from July 3-Aug. 25, 2017 with no camp on July 4. Contact Kathy at 413-499-7650, ext. 245, or kmancini@bfymca.org.
