Fall Foliage Children's Parade Celebrates Magic

Print Story | Email Story
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — The annual Fall Foliage Children's Parade was once again a success with 99 children participating in the parade this year.

The theme of "Magic in the Berkshires" attracted a plethora of Potters, a flamboyance of fairies, an orchard of apples, and more fanciful creatures and superheroes. The Drury High School marching band and band front got everyone in the spirit with a performance of "Do You Believe in Magic?" as the parade stepped off to one of the biggest crowds on Main Street in years.

Bookended by police cruisers, the marchers and floats made their to City Hall for the presentation of medals and gift certificates. A family-friendly dance followed at Game On on Main Street.

The participants are invited to march again in the annual Fall Foliage Parade on Sunday.

Greylock Federal Credit Union sponsored the event and Persnickety Toys donated all nine gift certificates for the winners, as it does every year. This year's judges were Daniel Bosley, William Blackmer, Michelle Sampson and Geeg Wiles. Suzy Helme of the city's Officer of Tourism oversaw the event and Mayor Richard Alcombright officiated.
