Out of the Ashes – a Story Event
Serenitea Café & Bar, 303 Ashland St.
7 – 10 PM
Free
for more information
Stuff burns down. Right to the ground sometimes. That leaves ashes, though, right? Just the place to pull something good out of. The Tin Soldier found redemption in the ashes in the shape of a heart. Bambi found out that...I don't know, that his worthless, piece of crap father could be there for him? Briefly? As an aside?
Well, if you've ever found yourself sifting through the cooling embers for salvation, or just plain salvage, the 12/27 crowd at SereniTea wants to hear all about it.
This December story event will be a non-competitive, end of the year, peace-on-Earth, kind of thing. BUT...that doesn't mean that we don't have rules...
The Story Must Be True
The Story Must Have Happened to You
You Have 8 Minutes (a 3-min non competitive –event extension)
You May Not Use Props or Notes
Whether you come to tell or listen, we look forward to seeing you there! |

Zeitgeist! An Open Reading
Uno Community Center 157 River Street,
(413) 663-6300
5 - 6:30 PM
Free
for more information
Calling all poets, writers, songwriters, and wordsmiths: North County Casual Writers is seeking artists for a special reading to end off 2017 and project our voices into 2018!
The word zeitgeist is defined as "the general beliefs, ideas, and spirit of a time and place." Artists will select a month from this year, and will be asked to tap into the personal, collective, and/or national experiences that relate to their month, giving voice to the overall zeitgeist of 2017.
Did disaster visit an unknown region of the world in February and now has your heart's attention? Did a political snafu in July cause you great frustration? Did your favorite band release an album in April that rocked your understanding of life? Or did March prove to be a monotonous month you learned a lot from - but NEVER want to relive again? These are the stories we hope to wring out of 2017 before it's over.
Spots are on a first ask, first receive basis, so don't delay! Refreshments will be served!
*We encourage those performing music to plan for an acoustic set up |
