Southwestern Vermont Medical Center Recognizes Medical Staff

BENNINGTON, Vt. — Southwestern Vermont Medical Center's medical staff was recognized at an annual event last month at the Bennington Museum.

Dr. Paul Donovan of SVMC Orthopedics was awarded the 2018 Professional Teamwork Award. Donovan joined the SVMC medical staff in 2011. He is known for involving the entire staff in relevant decisions and is highly respected by staff, patients and families. Donovan has worked throughout the region as a board-certified sports medicine specialist and emergency physician. He was a member of the medical staff of North Adams Regional Hospital from 1989-2014 and the director of Emergency Services there 1991-1993 and 2000-2011. He has authored numerous publications in the fields of emergency and sports medicine and about the history of North Adams Regional Hospital.

Dr. Marcus Martinez was named as the 2018 Clinical Excellence Award honoree. Martinez has worked in family medicine in Hoosick Falls, N.Y., since 2002. He was the chair of the Department of Family Medicine at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in 2006 and 2010 and Vice President of the medical staff in 2007. Last year, he, Dr. James Carroll, Dr. Jama Peacock, and Nurse Practitioner Melissa Row joined Twin Rivers Medical, P.C, a family medicine practice in Hoosick Falls, N.Y.

In addition to the awards, several providers were recognized for their years of service. Among them, doctors Paul Rosenthal and Michael Welther were honored for their 30-year service to the community.
