New Executive Director Joins Berkshire Grown

GREAT BARRINGTON, Mass. — Berkshire Grown's Board of Trustees has announced that Margaret Moulton has assumed the role of executive director of the organization.
Moulton's work with the Trustees of Reservations as an engagement site manager, and her long-time interest in sustainable agriculture as a volunteer educator at Stone Barns Center for Agriculture in Pocantico Hills, N.Y., have uniquely prepared her to shepherd Berkshire Grown into its next stage of development, according to Allison Rachele Bayles, president of the Board of Trustees
"We are thrilled to have Margaret at the helm of the organization. She is uniquely suited to engage growers and eaters alike in the discussion on the importance of local food," Bayles said. "More importantly, Margaret has the background in both programming and fundraising that Berkshire Grown needs. She understands the importance of developing creative fundraising strategies and long-lasting relationships with donors and community members."
Berkshire Grown supports and promotes local agriculture as a vital part of the Berkshire community, economy, and landscape; its mission is to "Keep farmers farming."
Through expanding programs and networking opportunities for farmers, extending the indoor farmers markets throughout the winter and spring, and directly engaging community members at events year-round, Berkshire Grown continues to grow. Moulton's long-standing commitment to local food and farmers and over 15 years of experience working in the field of community engagement have prepared her to lead the organization into its third decade.
"I am so proud to join the Berkshire Grown team and honored to continue the important work Barbara Zheutlin has achieved over the past 10 years. I look forward to growing the organization's reach into northern Berkshire county, expanding access to fresh, local food to all residents, and sharing my passion for local farms and food with all the amazing farmers, foodies, and chefs in our community," she said.
Berkshire Grown’s Harvest Supper on Monday, Sept. 24, is the organization's 20th annual fundraising event showcasing local farms and restaurants. This remarkable achievement demonstrates Berkshire Grown's position as a driving force in the local food movement, as well as its key role in steering the conversation about the importance of farming and local food in the Berkshire economy. With the addition of indoor markets in March and April, this season marks the first time that farmers markets will be year-round throughout Berkshire County. Berkshire Grown's popular Winter Farmers Markets will now run November through April in Great Barrington on the third Saturday of each month - alongside the North Adams (first Saturday) and Pittsfield (second Saturday) markets.
