NEWPORT, R.I. -- Tanner Thomas went 4-for-5 with a home run to lead the North Adams SteepleCats to an 11-10 win over the Newport Gulls in New England Collegiate Baseball League on Monday.
Matt Koperniak was 4-for-4 with a pair of doubles, raising his batting average to .464 this summer.
The Cats took an 11-3 into the bottom of the eighth before the Gulls scored six. They added one more in the bottom of the ninth, but Madison Jeffrey got the final out with a swinging strike with the bases loaded.
Nicholas Payero earned the win on the mound with five innings of work, allowing two earned runs.
North Adams (16-7) is off until Wednesday, when it travels to face the Upper Valley Nighthawks.
