Drury, Hoosac Valley Roll into Giorgi League Playoffs with Wins

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. -- The Drury and Hoosac Valley boys basketball teams Tuesday wrapped up regular season play with a pair of victories in the John Giorgi Summer Basketball League.
 
Scott McGuire Jr. scored 26 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to lead the Blue Devils to a 67-40 win over Mount Greylock.
 
Tim Brazeau also had a double-double with 11 points and 14 boards while blocking a pair of shots. And Anthony Pettingill scored 15 in the win.
 
Mount Greylock got 14 points from Pablo Santos and 10 points and eight rebounds from Derek Paris.
 
In Tuesday's other game, Hoosac Valley edged McCann Tech, 51-45, behind 22 points from Izaha Stubbs.
 
Sean Sumner scored 15 and collected 12 rebounds for the Hornets.
 
Playoffs in the high school division open Thursday with the semi-finals. Drury will once again take on Mount Greylock at 6:30 with Monument Mountain against Hoosac Valley to follow.
 
On Wednesday at Noel Field (or the Armory in the event of rain), it's two games in the men's division starting at 6:30: Pizza House vs. Lifting Standards followed by Flynn & Dagnoli/Kingsbread against Yard Work by Dan.
