Mt. Anthony Tree Farms Celebrates 50 Years

Premium Trees in North Pownal, Vermont

Jim and Julie Horst, along with their children Fritz and Jessica, are celebrating 50 years in the Christmas tree business this holiday season. They will be open for cut-your-own trees at their North Pownal, Vermont, location from November 26 through December 19, Friday-Sunday, 9am-4pm. Formerly Rudd’s Tree Farm, it has long been a favorite spot for Vermont and Massachusetts residents to cut their own trees.

We offer:

  • Fir, both Fraser and Balsam
  • Hand saws
  • Tree-wrapping for easier transport
  • Cut-your-own trees, $60 (includes tax)
  • Easily accessible fields
  • Ample parking
  • Friendly, helpful staff.

“Fifty years ago, we planted our first trees in Bennington, Vermont,” says Owner Jim Horst. “Since then, we’ve planted 3,000-6,000 trees annually, transitioning away from spruce and pine in the early years to Fraser and Balsam fir today. Originally wholesale only, we opened the Bennington farm to cut-your-own in 1988. Busy with raising a young family, however, we returned to wholesale only in 2000. With kids now grown and a second location, we returned to the cut-your-own market at our North Pownal farm in 2018, completing the circle.”

Please join us at our North Pownal location at 3583 VT-346, North Pownal, VT 05261. Questions? Call us at 802.447.0660 or email mtafarms@comcast.net.

We look forward to celebrating our 50th anniversary with you!

Jim, Julie, Fritz & Jessica Horst
