Madaline A. Seward, 82

LEE, Mass. — Madaline A. Seward, 82, of Lee died Wednesday, September 26, 2018, at her home.

Madaline was born April 8, 1936, the daughter of Albert and Helen Dymauchel Belanger. She was a graduate of Lee High School.

Madaline married Robert W. Seward Sr. on October 26, 1957. 

In her earlier years, Mal was a switchboard operator for the local phone company. For many years she was a proud homemaker, raising five sons as well as being the treasurer of Seward’s Tires Inc. for more than 30 years, until her retirement in 2005. She had a passion for sewing, be it hand making her children’s clothing or quilting with friends and family. She was an avid baker, especially known for her pies. She always praised her father for his accomplishments and believed she followed in his footsteps.

Mal enjoyed camping in their school bus turned camper, taking antique car rides through the countryside and wintering in Sarasota, Florida.

Besides her husband, Robert, Mrs. Seward leaves behind her five sons, Robert W. Jr. and his wife Patricia, Steven M. and his wife Sonja, William B. and his wife Maureen, Michael J. and his wife Janice and Andrew J. and his wife Betsy; nine grandchildren: Caren, Brandon, Megan, Christopher, Dylan, Tori, Amanda, Matthew and Tyler; two great-grandchildren, Emmett and Amelia; and three sisters, Mary Coty and her husband, Jack, Janet Rock and Andrea Rock.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, David Belanger; and great-grandson, Owen.

Funeral notice: Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 29, 2018, at 11 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church with a Liturgy of Christian Burial celebrated by Fr. Daniel Cymer. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery. 

Visiting hours will be held Friday evening, September 28, 2018, from 4 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to either the Lee Ambulance Squad or Porchlight VNA in care of Kelly Funeral Home, 3 Main St., Lee, MA 01238.
