Theophilia H. Richards, 96
ADAMS, Mass. — Mrs. Theophilia Helen “Ophie” (Kozak) Richards, 96, of Adams, died Wednesday morning, October 17, 2018, at Sweetbrook Care Center in Williamstown.
She was born in Adams on February 18, 1922, a daughter of the late Ludwik and Victoria (Czech) Kozak and attended Adams schools. Ophie last worked at the former General Cable Co. in Williamstown until retiring in 1986. Earlier, she had worked at the former Berkshire Fine Spinning Co. in Adams, and at General Electric Co. in Pittsfield and the former Sprague Electric Co. in North Adams.
She was a communicant of the Parish of St. John Paul II in Adams, and enjoyed gardening, crocheting, and spending time with her family.
Her husband, John D. Richards, whom she married on May 11, 1946, died on March 3, 2001.
She is survived by her sons, John D. "Skeets" Richards Jr. and his wife, Barbara, of Williamstown, and David Richards and his wife, Frances, of Adams; her daughter, Jacqueline Hafner, of Adams; three grandchildren, Carolyn Richards Kutny and her husband, Peter, of Ellsworth, Maine, Ryan Richards of Boston, and Christopher Richards and his partner, Damon, of Amherst, Mass.; two great-grandchildren; one sister, Jessie Hospod of Pittsfield; one brother, Augustyn Kozak of Spotsylvania, Va.; as well as several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
She was predeceased by her son-in-law, Thomas Hafner; a brother, Walter Kozak; and two sisters, Ann Clermont and Mary Ellsworth.
Funeral notice: Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Oct. 20, 2018, at 10 a.m. in the Paciorek Funeral Home, 13 Hoosac St. Adams. Rev. Steven Montesanti, Pastor of the Parish of St. John Paul II will officiate.
Burial will follow in Bellevue Cemetery, Adams. Calling hours are Saturday morning from 9 a.m. until the service, at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to the St. John Paul Food Pantry, PO Box 231, Adams, MA 01220.
