Barbara Alarie, 76

ADAMS, Mass. — Barbara May O'Neil Alarie of Adams died Wednesday, July 17, 2019, at Williamstown Commons.

She was born in North Adams on Sept. 1, 1942, daughter of Thomas J. O'Neil Jr. and Patricia Farrell O'Neil. She attended local schools and graduated from the former St. Joseph's High School.

Barbara worked at the former Price Chopper in North Adams and at the former K-Mart Department Store.

Survivors include one daughter, Cheryl Green of Adams; two sons, Brian Alarie and his wife, Mary, of Adams, and Francis E. Alarie III and his wife, Elizabeth, of Hawaii; five grandchildren, Nicole, Megan, Brittany, Melinda and Teddy; one sister, Kathleen Gregory of Dalton; and two brothers, Thomas "Joe" O'Neil and Gary O'Neil, as well as nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by two sisters, Denise O'Neil and Eileen Tisdale. The family would like to thank HospiceCare in the Berkshires and Williamstown Commons.

Her burial will be Sept 6th at Southview Cemetery at 11am and the Celebration of Life at Fish Pond directly after which was her "place" she loved to go to in her earlier years. thank you everyone for the beautiful comments during this hard emotional time.

My heart breaks for you all, but I know Barb is finally at peace. I will always treasure my memories of Barb hosting Easter, and being on Commercial St for Thanksgiving, Christmas and family gatherings. She loved being a mom. My favorite memory is of the Christmas Eve Barb sat with me and spoke honestly and lovingly to me when my own grandmother died. I loved her . ❤️💔
