Frederick A. Bonak, 87

STOCKBRIDGE, Mass. — Mr. Frederick A. Bonak, 87, a long-time resident of Stockbridge, passed away on Thursday, July 16, 2020, after a long illness. 

He was a graduate of Searles High School Class of 1950, and the General Electric Drafting Certification Program, and he was a long-time communicant of St. Ann Church in Lenox.

Mr. Bonak served as a corporal in the tank division of The United States Army post Korean War.  He was employed by the General Electric Company in Pittsfield, Mass., where he worked in the Power Transformer and Naval Ordnance Divisions before retiring in 1989. His interests and hobbies included trout fishing, deer hunting, golfing and downhill skiing. He loved and enjoyed caring for his home in Stockbridge, and he was a member of the Adirondack Council and Trout Unlimited.

He is survived by his wife, Phyllis T. Bonak, also of Stockbridge; daughter Valerie A. Bonak of Chadds Ford, Pa.; and two step-sisters, Ann Pruhenski of Great Barrington and Eleanor Makarski of Housatonic.  

He was predeceased by his mother, Bessie Boldyga Bonak-Curtiss; stepfather Oliver Curtiss; and father Anthony Bonak.

Funeral notice: In consideration of COVID-19 regulations, services were privately held at St. Bridget’s Cemetery in Housatonic, Mass., with arrangements provided by the Roche Funeral Home in Lenox.
