Ethel Sakowski, 87

SAVOY, Mass. — Ethel G. Sakowski, 87, of Savoy, passed away Thursday, Jan. 7, 2021, at her home.

Born in Somerville on April 4, 1933, daughter of the late Edwin and Laura Armstrong Sherman she came to Savoy as a child and attended Savoy and Adams schools. 

She became the tax collector in Savoy for several years and also was employed for the Savoy Post Office. 

Her last place of employment was as a Health Care Aid, retiring in 2004. Ethel was a member of the First Baptist Church in Adams. She was a longtime member of the Franklin Chapter #92 of the Order of the Eastern Star in Adams, where she was Past Matron and held other officer positions in the organization. 

She enjoyed cooking, especially Polish food, baking, and fishing with her grandchildren. Ethel's greatest joy was spending time with her loving family. Her husband William A. Sakowski, whom she married on Jan. 28, 1955, died Feb. 8, 2012. 

She is survived by two daughters, Debra Magner and her husband Mark of Bradenton, FL, Pamela LeSage and her Fiance Valmore Cloutier of Savoy, three grandchildren, George LeSage III and his wife April, Geola LeSage and her companion Mike King, and Garrett LeSage. Three great-grandchildren, George, Grayson, and Matilda LeSage, and she had many siblings and foster siblings. 

Services and burial will be private. Donations in her memory can be made to Hospice in the Berkshires in care of the TROTTIER PRINGLE FUNERAL HOME, 6 Summer St., Adams, MA 01220 who is in charge of arrangements.

I worked for several years with Ethel at CompCare VNA. She was a kind woman and a hard worker. I haven't seen her in many years, but I am glad to see that she passed at home...where her heart was. Prayers to her family and friends.
