Roger K. Strek, 78

Mr. Roger K. Strek; affectionately known as Grumpa by his grandchildren: 78, of Cheshire, died on Sunday, August 1, 2021, at Mt. Greylock Extended Care Facility in Pittsfield.

He was born in Adams on May 31, 1943, a son of the late Walter and Adelaide (Muggle) Strek. He attended schools in Adams and graduated from the former Adams High School with the class of 1961. He then attended Berkshire Community College in Pittsfield.

Mr. Strek was a Veteran of the Vietnam War, having served with the United States Air Force until receiving his Honorable Discharge as a Sergeant in 1970.

Roger last worked in the power transformer division of General Electric Company in Schenectady, NY until his retirement.

He was a communicant of St. Mary of the Assumption Church, Cheshire. He was a member of the Adams Post 160 American Legion. Roger enjoyed fishing with his son and brother year round. He also enjoyed crossword puzzles.

He is survived by his wife, the former Janet King, whom he married on December 22, 1978; four sons, Christopher Strek and his wife Erin of Adams, Mark Sebastino of Adams, Matthew Sebastino and his wife Christina of CA and Sean Sebastino and his wife Krista of Quincy; his sister Faith Durant of TX; six grandchildren, Ryan, Parker, Tanner, Spencer, Laura and Helena; and by many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his brother John Strek.

The funeral will be held on Thursday, August 5th at 12:30 P.M. in the PACIOREK FUNERAL HOME, 13 Hoosac St., Adams.

Burial will follow in Bellevue Cemetery, Adams.

Calling hours are Thursday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service at the funeral home.

Memorial donations may be made to the Adams Post 160 American Legion, 160 Forest Park Ave., Adams, MA 01220.

The family would also like to thank the staff at Mt Greylock Extended Care Facility in Pittsfield for their excellent care over the last three years.
