Julia Haddad, 94

Julia Ferris (Ameen) Haddad, 94 of Williamstown, MA, passed away on Sunday, October 10, 2021 at Berkshire Medical Center North (NARH).

She was born in North Adams, MA on April 3, 1927, a loving daughter of Kassim Ameen and Margaret (Errichetto) Ameen. Growing up in North Adams, she attended Drury High School.

Julia married Michael Haddad, Sr. on September 28, 1948. They spent many years working together as the proprietors of the Four Acres Restaurant. Prior to operating the Four Acres Restaurant, Julia and her husband, Mike were partners together at the former Lenox House Restaurant. Michael predeceased her on September 12, 2004.

Julia, or Mimi, as she was known to her grandchildren and great grandchildren was all about family. She lived for her family and was a constant presence in her children’s lives, always giving out hugs and kisses and checking on them.

Mike and Julia owned and operated the restaurant, the Four Acres, the grandchildren would forever be bringing their friends over to hang out, and meet Mimi. Mimi is well known and loved by many of the children that have grown up in Williamstown. She was a fierce presence in the kitchen where she would show the kitchen staff how to scrub the dishes over and over. If you worked in the kitchen, “tho she be little, she be fierce!”

In the front dining room – she was the gracious, warm hostess that would meet her regulars with a smile and hug. Coming to the Four Acres was like coming home to a warm kitchen, good food, family and friends. Julia's relationship with her sisters, brothers and extended family has always been exceptionally close. Holidays and occasions were celebrated by joining together, enjoying their Lebanese cooking and filling the rooms with noisy chatter and music. Julia's warm personality, kindness and sincerity will be missed by all those who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her two loving children, Deborah H. Ackley and her husband Fred and Michael Haddad and his wife Cheryl, all of Williamstown. She also leaves behind 4 grandchildren; Ross Ackley(Christina), Nicole Haddad (Ben Foberg) , Michael Haddad, III (Evelyn) and Ryan Ackley (Neale); and six great grandchildren, Aiden, Elena, Tessa , Emma, Charles and Weston.
