Josephine T. Oparowski, 85

ADAMS, Mass. — Josephine Theresa Oparowski, 85, 0f Adams, died Wednesday afternoon, November 17, 2021, at North Adams Commons. She was born in Adams on March 19, 1936, a daughter of John J. and Gladys R. (Janik) Oparowski. She attended St. Stanislaus Elementary School and graduated from the former Adams High School with the Class of 1954. Josie worked as a hand borderer at Crane & Co. in North Adams for 35 years, until retiring in 2012. Earlier, she had worked at the former Brightwater Paper Co., Budd Co., and James River Corp. in Adams. She was a communicant of St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, Adams, where she was a member of the vigil group that occupied the church during its closure. She enjoyed traveling, gardening, and creating extensive decorations for the holidays. She is survived by her twin sister, Catherine S. Moran and her husband, John, of Adams; her brother, John F. Oparowski of Adams; her niece, Debbie Moran (Christopher) of Adams, her nephew, David Moran (Joan) of Cheshire; and her longtime companion, Richard Netherwood of North Adams. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, Nov. 22nd, at 10:00 AM in St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, Adams. Burial will follow in St. Stanislaus Cemetery, Adams. Relatives and friends are invited. There are no calling hours.
