Janet T. Straczek, 86

ADAMS, Mass. —

Janet Theresa Straczek, 86, of Adams, died Monday morning, November 29, 2021, at Albany Medical Center. Born in Adams on June 29, 1935 she was the eldest of six children born to the late Joseph and Stella (Kluza) Straczek. After graduating from St. Stanislaus Elementary School, she served ice cream for Bill Owczarski before spending most of her working years and retiring from the former Sprague Electric. Janet was a very social person having many friends and hobbies. In her early years she loved being out in the sun, whether walking on the beach, playing badminton or just lying out absorbing the rays. She liked to knit, crochet, decorate cakes and make snowflake chrusts for the St Stanislaus Bazaars. She was especially proud to be Polish and enjoyed anything having to do with polkas, so much so that she had a lifetime collection of Lawrence Welk items, books, tapes, and videos of his family shows. Still the social person she was, in her later years she joined the Adams Senior Citizens, The Adams Historical Society and learned how to use the computer in order to keep up with friends. Janet loved getting out and going places whether shopping at the mall or going on one of the many excursions offered by Dufour Tours to casinos or music venues. Although she never married or had children of her own, she served as a caring aunt and sister to many in the family assisting whenever she could. She is survived by sisters Constance Thompson and Barbara Bordeau along with Barbara’s husband John. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her Sisters Regina Kuczynski and Dorothy McKeon along with her brother Joseph Straczek.

She was a communicant of St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, Adams, where a Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday December 3, 2021 at 10 AM. Burial will follow in St Stanislaus Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited. There are no calling hours. The PACIOREK FUNERAL HOME, Adams, is in charge of arrangements. Memorial donations may be made to St. Stanislaus Church, 21 Maple St. Adams, MA 01220 or to St. Stanislaus School, 108 Summer St. Adams, MA 01220.
