Peter "Bub" Tietgens, 97

CHESHIRE, Mass. —  

Peter N. "Bub" Tietgens, 97, of Tucson, AZ, formerly of Cheshire, MA, died at home on Wednesday, November 3. Born in North Adams, MA. Pete graduated from Drury HS in 1942. Following graduation, he enlisted in the Navy and served from 1942-46 as a Lt JG Naval Carrier fighter pilot. After his service he was employed as a commercial pilot and instructor at Harriman Airport. He was ultimately employed by GE for 40 years and retired as a General Manager in 1985.

Pete was an avid sportsman and enjoyed numerous hunting trips in the Rockies and salmon fishing on Lake Ontario. Additionally, he owned and raced thoroughbreds at Green Mt. Park where his son was a trainer and son-in-law a jockey.

Pete is survived by his wife of 75 years, Anne (Dooling), son Peter (Christine) and daughters Patricia Kisielewski, Mary Seppala, Suzanne King (Bob), 8 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. His brother John Tietgens is deceased.

Pete was loved and admired by many and will be greatly missed.

Burial will be held on June 25, 2022 at 11 am at the Cheshire Cemetery followed by a celebration of Pete's life at 12 pm at the Cheshire Rod and Gun Club, 310 Curran Rd., Cheshire.
