NORTH ADAMS, Mass. - The Pathfinder football team got its first win of the season with a 34-6 victory over McCann Tech on Saturday.

Both of these teams came into today with the hopes of finally getting into the win column and Pathfinder (1-4)  answered the call.

Right from the opening kickoff, Pathfinder had a plan to pound the ball on the ground and it certainly worked for them. The visitors took a lengthy opening drive all the way down the field to score the game's first points on the ground.

Pathfinder finished with more than 150 yards on the ground and four touchdowns. Three of the four touchdowns came in the first half. The one exception was a nice 24-yard throw and catch for Pathfinder to round out the afternoon.

The Pioneers' rushers were able to give McCann Tech (0-5) fits all day long which opened up the passing game. Pathfinder threw for 90 yards and one touchdown.

McCann Tech, meanwhile, struggled to move the ball on offense. Seneca Bolte and Troy Wnuk combined for 79 yards on the ground, and the passing attack was just not there. McCann trailed going into the break 27-0 and received the ball to start the second in hopes of turning this game around, but it just wasn’t the Hornets' day.

Pathfinder got a quick stop and went down the field for a touchdown, making it 34-0 and sealing the game up.

Pathfinder then stepped it up on defense forcing a interception and return that brought them into scoring position. After a few costly penalties they were backed up far enough to stall the drive and punt it back to McCann. McCann was unable to build on that momentum and the two teams went back and forth playing the field position game.

It wasn’t until late in the game when McCann Tech finally saw the back of the end zone on a Parker Hart touchdown run from 16 yards out.

McCann will hope to secure its first win of the season next week against Monument Mountain on the road.
