Hoosac Valley Football Secures Top Seed in Western Mass Playoffs

Three of Berkshire County's seven high school football teams earned berths in the Western Massachusetts sectional playoffs.
 
And two of them will play one another in the semi-finals on Friday night.
 
Hoosac Valley (8-0) held down the top seed in Division 8 when the the playoff pairings were announced on Sunday morning at Smith Vocational in Northampton.
 
The Hurricanes will be home on Friday against No. 4 Lee at Renfrew Park.
 
The winner of that game will face the winner of the other semi-final between No. 3 Mahar and No. 2 Ware in the sectional final.
 
In Division 7, Wahconah (5-3) is seeded fourth in Western Mass and will open the postseason on the road against top-seeded South Hadley (6-2) on Friday.
 
The other D7 semi-final pits Chicopee (6-2) against Frontier (6-2).
 
The county's four non-playoff teams will play up to two games over the next two weeks starting on Thursday evening when Drury (5-3) heads to Berkshire Community College to face Pittsfield (2-6).
 
The next night, BCC will be host Taconic (3-5) in its non-playoff game against Longmeadow (2-6).
 
Monument Mountain will open non-playoff play on Saturday at McCann Tech.
