GREAT BARRINGTON, Mass. — The Monument Mountain football team gave Smith Vocational no chance to win on Friday, not letting a single point through in the team's 45-0 victory.

The Spartans scored the first touchdown of the game with 3:51 left in the first quarter. They scored again at the end of the quarter, bringing the lead to 16 with just 38 seconds left after a successful 2-point conversion.

Monument Mountain wasted no time scoring in the second quarter, pushing the score to 22-0 less than one minute in. The fourth Spartan touchdown of the game, with 6:42 left in the quarter would put the lead to an even 30 points.

The final touchdown of the half came with just 40 seconds left on the clock. The Spartans would opt for a field goal, putting the score to 37-0 heading into the second half of play.

Smith was able to get within 10 yards of the goal line in the third quarter but was unable to make it past the Spartan defense. Both teams were scoreless in the quarter, with the score still at 37-0 heading into the final 12 minutes of play.

The first 10 minutes of the fourth quarter were scoreless, with fumbles from both teams. This stagnation would change with just over two minutes in the quarter, however, as Monument Mountain scored its final touchdown of the game to set the final score at 45-0.

After the win, the Spartans sit at a record of 3-1. The team goes on the road to play McCann Tech at 7 p.m. on Oct. 14.
