NORTH ADAMS, Mass. -- The Pittsfield football team defeated Drury Saturday afternoon up on the Drury hill, 50-6.

The Generals converted three Drury fumbles in the first quarter for touchdowns and led 30-0 after the first.

Their first score came from Edwin Rodriguez, running it in from the 1-yard line; the two-point conversion from Brian Rodriguez was good putting them up, 8-0.

Less than a minute later after another Blue Devils turnover; Kolbe Muzzy ran for 34 yards on a quarterback keeper, and Mason Papirio ran it in for the extra two points to lead 16-0.

Their next two touchdowns came from Muzzy and Sam Sala.

"We were running parts of our offense that we haven't been able to run yet all year," Pittsfield coach said. "Kolbe is starting to get a real good feel for our offense; I'm real proud of the guys efforts today and defensively I thought they played fantastic."

In the second quarter, Sala ran for a 3-yard touchdown to go ahead, 38-0, with the extra two points from Muzzy. Edwin Rodriguez put them ahead, 44-0, before half with a 10-yard touchdown run.

In the third quarter Sala ran for another 25 yards for a first down. He then went 9 yards to the goal line to make it 50-0.

But the Blue Devils had not yet given up; they continued to fight and work toward the end zone.

They finally broke through in the final three minutes with a 48-yard touchdown run from Jamal Beda, leaving the final at 50-6.

"I challenged the guys at halftime to come out and try to win the second quarter," Drury coach Seth Shepard said. "We're battling a lot of injuries, a lot of inexperience, we have freshman and sophomores on the field; Pittsfield is a good deep team with a lot of experience."

Pittsfield host Lee next Saturday and the Blue Devils travel to Wahconah.
