Pittsfield Football Improves to 4-1

11:03PM / Friday, October 09, 2015

PITTSFIELD, Mass. -- The Pittsfield High football team bounced back from a letdown late in the first half and rolled to a 36-12 victory over Lee on Friday night at Wahconah Park.

The Generals (4-1) were up, 16-0, with less than a minute left when Lee quarterback Cam Abderhalden "made a Cam Abderhalden play," according to PHS coach Brian Jezewski.

The Lee senior scrambled out of trouble and threw a strike 25-yards downfield to set up Lee's first score of the game.

"But the thing that I liked was the kids bounced back and stopped the 2-point coversion, and then we scored right away to start the second half. That was the turning point of the game," Jezewski said.

Edwin Rodriguez rushed for more than 100 yards, taking some of the load from Sam Sala, who turned an ankle in the first half.

"We ran the ball," Jezewski said. "We ran it a lot. Our offensive line dominated the line of scrimmage."

The Generals played without seniors Shane Cronin and Parker Blessing, who were injured.

Jezewski had nothing but praise for the Wildcats (2-3).

"Keith [Thompson] does a great job preparing his kids," Jezewski said. "[Randy Pichardo], the defensive lineman is a very physical player."

Pittsfield on Friday travels to face Monument Mountain. Lee crosses the county to face Mount Greylock on Friday.
