SPRINGFIELD, Mass. -- The Lee High football team Friday needed less than three minutes to score the game's first touchdown and less than two quarters to put the game away.

Jack Purcell ran for two first-half touchdowns, and Jimmy Purcell threw for a pair of scores as Lee ran away with a 48-0 win over Commerce at Springfield Central.

It was 41-0 with more than four minutes left in the first half as Lee scored the first six times it touched the ball.

Jack Purcell got things going with a 17-yard score to cap a 60-yard drive off the opening kickoff.

After a punt, Lee went 61 yards, finishing with a 12-yard completion from Jimmy Purcell to Cole Redstone.

After an Elliot Winston sack on fourth down ended Commerce second possession at midfield, Jimmy Purcell needed just two plays to pass Lee back into the end zone, first connecting with Redstone for 16 yards and then hitting Tag Roosa in the right flat for a catch-and-run that went for 34 yards.

Luke Patella hit the third of his five straight extra points to open the game to make it 21-0.

Jack Purcell ran for a 10-yard score on Lee's next possession, and Jimmy Purcell ran it in himself from the 29 to get the score to 35-0.

Max Brighenti put the game out of reach with a 1-yard TD run with 4 minutes, 35 seconds left until half-time.

Lee (3-3) takes a two-game winning streak into next Friday's home game against Belchertown.
