PITTSFIELD, Mass. -- Brody Calvert scored four goals and sparked Wahconah to a pair of four-goal runs in an 8-2 win over Mount Everett on Friday afternoon.

He started the game with a goal in the second minute of play to start his team on his way to a 4-0 lead.

Then, after Mount Everett cut that lead in half, Calvert scored his third goal of the game -- the first of four straight for Wahconah to put the game away.

“Brody’s kind of like the engine,” Wahconah coach John Kovacs said. “His mobility and his passing gets everyone going. And it’s not only him, because the other guys complement him.”

Calvert’s sophomore classmate Devin Lampron scored two goals and set up one of Calvert’s tallies in the win.

“It’s a young crew,” Kovacs said. “They’ve been playing together since they were smaller. It’s just starting to click. That’s what I’ve noticed.

“Yesterday, we played Hoosac, and Devin got us started. He had two, and Brody had two.”

Twenty-four hours later, Calvert got Wahconah started when he received the ball in the right wing corner and carried dribbled into the 18 before beating Mount Everett’s Michael Devoti (nine saves) inside the near post.

Lampron followed less than five minutes later with a strike from the left side of the 18 to make it 2-0.

Calvert broke up the middle for his second goal of the game midway through the half, and freshman Ryan Marauszwski put one in the net off the keeper to give Wahconah a 4-0 lead in the 19th minute

Mount Everett got on the board with three minutes left in the half when Jack Carpenter took the ball into the middle of the 18 and fired a shot from about 15 yards to beat Wahconah keeper Ernie Lampron (four saves).

Carpenter then started the second half with a goal in the 46th minute. Michael Ullrich received a restart on the right wing and set up Carpenter for his second goal of the game.

But less than two minutes later, Calvert intercepted a Mount Everett clearance pass at the top of the 18 and finished make it a 5-2 game.

“We got a little lax, and they came at us,” Kovacs said of Mount Everett’s second goal. “What was nice was to see us bounce back. We weren’t pushed like that yesterday, so it was nice to see us respond to that. Because the competition is only going to get better. Next week we have Lenox and Monument.”

Nick Astore and Devin Lampron each scored goals to get the lead to 7-2 before Calvert scored on another run up the middle in the 72nd minute to cap the scoring.

Wahconah (2-0) was scheduled to play at Monument Mountain on Friday, a game that Kovacs said is being rescheduled.

Mount Everett (0-2) hosts Hoosac Valley on Monday.
