NORTH ADAMS, Mass. -- The Drury Blue Devils (2-0) secured their second win in as many games, beating Greenfield (0-2), 5-1, on Thursday.

Strong defense allowed Drury to control the majority of the possession time while also allowing the forwards to commit to the attack. The scoring for Drury started late but came on strong. Five different players scored for Drury to secure the win.

The first half of the game was controlled by Drury. The Blue Devils were on the attack as the Greenfield defenders were tested at a furious pace. Greenfield goalkeeper Hunter Campbell managed to withstand the assault until the 28-minute mark, when Drury’s Conor Clark scored on a pass from Bryce Webb.

The first goal was followed quickly by the second, when Jon Boland scored on a pass from Max Daugherty in the 30th minute. The first ended with Drury up 2-0.

Drury started the second half strong scoring quickly as forward Max Daugherty scored in the 47th minute, assisted by Boland. The scoring continued in Drury’s favor as the Blue Devils netted two more goals. Reece Racette received a pass from Jon Boland and scored in the 48th minute.

Then in the 70th minute Jacob Brayman was able to outrun the Greenfield defenders to contribute to the scoring.

The lone Greenfield goal came from Anjou Kang-Stryker in the late minutes of the game.

Drury’s strong showing started with its defense which allowed minimal attempts at its goal keeper. The defense’s strong play allowed the forwards from Drury to sell out and put tremendous pressure on the young Greenfield team. Greenfield played strong and was able to withstand the Blue Devil attack until late in the first half. In the end Drury’s strong play proved too much for Greenfield to overcome.

St. Joseph will travel to play Drury on Saturday.
