WESTFIELD, Mass. -- Jack Carpenter scored to lead the Mount Everett boys soccer team to a 1-0 win over Hopkins Academy on Wednesday in the Western Massachusetts Division 4 quarter-finals.

Nikos Casivant set up Carpenter with a free kick in the 30th minute, and Patrick Silk made the two saves he needed to earn the shutout win in goal.

Fourth-seeded Mount Everett (10-4-1) earned its second ever trip to the sectional semi-finals, where it will face a familiar foe, Berkshire County rival Lenox, a 4-0 winner over Smith Academy in Wednesday’s quarter-finals.

“The Eagles have some banged up players, but will look to rebound and keep momentum going from today's game,” Mount Everett coach Joshua King said.

The Millionaires earned a pair of wins over the Eagles in the regular season, by scores of 5-1 and, more recently, 2-0, on Oct. 30.

Game 3 in their season series will be Thursday evening at Wahconah Regional High School.
