CHESHIRE, Mass. -- Trevor Crawford and Nona Rivera each scored a pair of goals to lead the Pope Francis boys soccer team to a 4-0 win over Hoosac Valley.

The turning point came in the 53rd minute, when Crawford scored an unassisted goal off a corner kick that was not cleared from the 18.

“Overall, I thought the first half, Hoosac Valley battled a very good team and held them scoreless,” Hoosac Valley coach Mike Russo said. “In the second half, we couldn’t quite clear a ball and they scored. Pushing people up a bit and opened up us up in the back, and they scored some late goals.”

Jaydin Cooper stopped two shots for the Hurricanes (3-8-1), who go to Taconic on Thursday.
