Monument Mountain Boys Seeded Seventh in State Tournament

The Monument Mountain and Wahconah boys soccer teams each earned top-eight seeds on opposite sides of the bracket in the upcoming Division 4 state tournament.
 
In all, nine of the county's 10 boys soccer teams qualified for post-season play when the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association released the state tournament brackets on Tuesday afternoon.
 
Monument Mountain is seeded seventh among the 39 teams that qualified for the tourney and on Saturday will host the winner of Thursday's play-in game between Wareham and Sturgis West.
 
Wahconah is seeded eighth and will host Northeast Metro on Saturday.
 
Six Berkshire County squads are among the 43 that qualified in the Division 4 state tourney.
 
Two games in Saturday's round of 32 could feature all-Berkshire contests.
 
No. 9 Lenox awaits the winner of Thursday's play-in between No. 41 McCann Tech and No. 24 St. Joseph Prep in Boston.
 
No. 8 Mount Greylock on Saturday will host either No. 40 Smith Vocational or No. 25 Mount Everett, who play on Thursday in Sheffield.
 
Both Taconic and Hoosac Valley are on the road in Wednesday's preliminary round.
 
No. 39 Taconic will be at No. 26 West Boylston, and No. 35 Hoosac Valley travels to No. 30 Quaboag Regional for a spot in the round of 32.
 
In D3 boys, Pittsfield is seeded 32nd and will host No. 33 Auburn on Thursday for the right to head to top-seeded Belchertown on Saturday.
 
All MIAA playoff brackets are subject to change during a 24-hour period after release to allow for appeals based on teams' records.
