DALTON, Mass. -- Eric Hirsch scored twice, and Taylor Carlough played strong defense as the Mount Greylock boys soccer team defeated Wahconah, 2-0, on Thursday evening.

Carlough drew the assignment of marking dangerous Wahconah attacker Kevin Boino. And the Mounties' senior back helped hold the home team to just two shots on goal against keeper Cal Filson.

Hirsch scored once at the beginning of the game and once at the end.

In the ninth minute, he converted a through ball from Grant Raphael. With about four minutes left, Hirsch took another through ball -- this time from Sam Dils -- and converted it for his team-leading 12th goal.

Mount Greylock (9-1-1) travels to Cheshire to play Hoosac Valley on Wednesday.

Wahconah (6-5-1) hosts Taconic on Tuesday.
