LUDLOW, Mass. -- The Mount Greylock boys soccer team had nothing to feel bad about after settling for a tie in Friday night's game at Division 1 Ludlow.

"Some ties feel like losses. Others feel like wins," Mount Greylock coach Blair Dils said. "This one goes in the win category as we were able to score twice in the final seven minutes to tie Ludlow."

Dils said the Mounties were getting quality chances all night before finally breaking through in the closing moments.

Ludlow's Luis Gomes opened the scoring in the 13th minute, and Mike Goncalves added a penalty kick goal for the hosts midway through the second half.

Then in the 74th minute, Mount Greylock scored on a counter when Grant Raphael set up Eric Hirsch with a through ball. Five minutes later, David Majetich finished a Hirsch shot across the goal mouth.

Cal Filson made two saves for Mount Greylock (10-1-2), which hosts Pittsfield on Tuesday; the Generals handed the Mounties their other tie back on Sept. 23. Mount Greylock then finishes at home against Longmeadow and at Monument Mountain on Oct. 27.

"Tying Ludlow certainly doesn't hurt our chances to grab a high seed in the [Western Massachusetts] Division 3 tournament," Dils said.
