GREAT BARRINGTON, Mass. -- Quinn Johnstadt scored off a Blair Dils cross from the left wing Monday to lift the Mount Greylock boys soccer team to a 1-0 win over Monument Mountain as the Mounties clinched a berth in the Western Massachusetts tournament.

"To take down Monument at their place on a Monday is never an easy task," Mount Greylock coach Blair Dils said. "The defensive effort was excellent tie. We really limited their opportunities, and anything that did sneak through David [Falk] was there to scoop things up."

*We're back in the playoffs and it feels great. After last year's devastation, we're thrilled to have a chance to win a Western Mass crown."

A year ago, the Mounties missed the tournament because of an MIAA ruling that they needed to forfeit six games in which an ineligible player participated.

Mount Greylock (7-3-2) will look to improve on its seeding for this year's tournament on Friday night against Ludlow.

Monument Mount (5-4-1) goes to Mahar on Wednesday.
