GREAT BARRINGTON, Mass. — The first twenty minutes belong to Monument Mountain, but they struggled to find the back of the
net. Lucas Wartella capitalized on a beautifully played through ball from Chris Peretti in the 9th minute to put the Spartans ahead 1-0.

The second twenty minutes of the half was a battle through the midfield.  Pittsfield (4-5-1) would even the score with two minutes left to go in the half on a scramble inside the box. Ceasar Miranda would score assisted by Matt Capeless.

The game became more physical in the second half with several hard fouls occurring.  Monument (7-0-1) had several good looks on goal but failed to capitalize until the 76th minute when goal keeper Aaron House played a long ball out his goal box and found Nick Masiero who took a strong first touch around his mark and was left one on one with the keeper.  He buried the ball in the corner of the net making the score 2-1.  One minute later Wartella put the exclamation on the win, hitting a ball into the upper 90 for his second goal of the game.

Both teams next game will be on Thursday Oct 11. Monument will be at Hoosac Valley at 4:15 pm while Pittsfield will play at St. Joe at 4 pm.
