PITTSFIELD, Mass. -- Monument Mountain defeated Pittsfield Thursday afternoon, 1-0, at Kirvin Park.

The goal didn't come until the end of the first half off a cross from Monument's Isaac Graves. He beat two Pittsfield defenders and sent the ball across the penalty box to Henri Morrison, who was able to play the ball into the goal off a bounce.

Defense was tight in the second half on both ends. Pittsfield had an opportunity to tie the game up, but Monument's goalie had an outstanding game.

"We have a tremendously talented squad," Pittsfield coach Andrew Antil said. "But we are still looking to establish our chemistry and learn how to maximize our potential."

Trevor McFarland made eight saves for Monument (2-1), which hosts Lenox on Tuesday.

Harrison Rapant had two stops for Pittsfield (0-1-2) which faces Wahconah the same day at Kirvin Park.
