PITTSFIELD, Mass. -- Noel Powell scored in the 51st minute to give the Monument Mountain boys soccer team a 1-0 win over Pittsfield on Thursday.

Robert Baldwin set up Powell for the game-winner after a “dangerous play” call against Pittsfield gave the Spartans an indirect free kick opportunity.

“From there, we used the frustration to play a hard second half, but we lost a bit of our composure and couldn’t regain our first half momentum,” said Pittsfield coach Andrew Antil, who thought his team carried the play in the first half.

“Overall, it was a tough battle against a solid team.”

Kevin Kelly made seven saves to earn the shutout win for Monument Mountain (4-1-1).

Avi Snowise made two stops for Pittsfield (4-4), which hosts Mahar on Friday.
