PITTSFIELD, Mass. -- Danny Kankam and Justice Daniels each scored a goal for the Pittsfield High boys soccer team in a 2-0 win over Westfield on Thursday.

Kankam converted an assist from Kasey Miranda in the run of play for the game-winner. Petie Britmaier set up Daniels on a set piece to give the Generals (1-0) a two-goal lead at half-time.

“Sophomore defender Ethan Breitmaier played an excellent game to help keep the clean sheet in his first varsity match,” Pittsfield coach Neill Brandon said. “Junior midfielder Irving Chairez brought great energy off the bench breaking up play and winning key tackles, especially in the first half.”

Pittsfield keeper Will Kinne (seven saves) also gave the team a strong overall performance, Brandon said.

Pittsfield hosts Ludlow on Saturday.
