PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Taconic head coach Mark Wasnewsky knew it was going to be a tough game with the Millionaires on a normal day, but having six starters out sick made it tougher.

Early on, Lenox came out and carried the play for most of the first half, scoring four times en route to a 6-2 victory. The pressure was so intense that the first goal Lenox tallied was an own goal as Taconic tried desperately to get the ball out of its box and a clearing attempt went in the net.

Two minutes later in the 14th minute Seamus Ryan got to the end line and sent a pass across to Andrew Vickery who deposited the ball to the back of the net. Taconic started to play tougher defense but in the 32nd minute a hand ball in its own box gave Lenox a penalty kick. Seamus Ryan took advantage of it to score the third Lenox goal.

That took the wind out of the Braves and five minutes later Ryan scored his second goal of the game to make it 4-0 Lenox at the half.

Coach Wasnewsky would not let his kids give up as the Braves came out strong in the second half scoring goals in the 44th and 49th minute to cut the lead in half. Mike Connors and Dominic Nda scored unassisted goals.

Lenox struck back with two goals of their own as Alex Bennett and Vickery both scored unassisted. Lenox took 28 shots to Taconic's 10. Taconic goaltender Andy Basile stopped 12 shots.

Taconic next plays Monument Mountain at home on Monday at 4 p.m. while Lenox hosts Pittsfield on Tuesday at 3:30 p.m.
