CHESHIRE, Mass. – Dylan Rohlfs had a hat trick Friday as the Hoosac Valley boys soccer team overcame a half-time deficit to earn a 5-4 win over Ware.
The Hurricanes were up, 2-0, midway through the first half, but they had to make some injury substitutions, and Ware took advantage to score three before the break, Hurricanes coach Blair Mahar said.
“We had a great half-time talk and told the boys that there was no doubt in my mind that we were going to win this game,” Mahar said. “Hoosac went back out and controlled the play for the first 20 minutes.”
The Hurricanes took a 4-3 lead before the visitors got an equalizer.
But in the last five minutes, Rohlfs completed his hat trick and gave Hoosac Valley the win.
Blake Mazzeo scored a goal, and Evan Richardson forced an own goal with his offensive pressure.
David Decker made 10 saves to earn the win in goal.
Hoosac Valley (5-4) goes to Drury on Tuesday.
