GREAT BARRINGTON, Mass. – Kofi Roberts scored in the second half to break a 1-1 tie and send the Mount Greylock boys soccer team to a 2-1 win over Monument Mountain on Monday night.
Gavin Hetherington scored in the first half for the Mounties, who got an assist from Simon Shin in their second straight win.
“Super proud of our team for carving out a gritty road win tonight against a very skillful Monument Mountain squad,” Mount Greylock coach Erin Sullivan said. “The game was fast paced and physical from the start, and we absorbed their early pressure well. In the second half I thought we had a winning mentality and brought another gear of intensity to close out a massive road win.”
Ward Bianchi made five stops to earn the win in goal.
Calvin Cooney had two saves for the Spartans (0-4-1, 0-3-1 Churchill Division), who host Frontier on Wednesday.
Mount Greylock (2-3, 1-1) hosts Westfield on Thursday.
