WESTHAMPTON, Mass. – The Hampshire boys soccer team Thursday broke a 1-1 tie 10 minutes into the second half and went on to a 4-2 win over Lenox.

The Millionaires took a 1-0 lead midway through the first half on a goal by Fyodr Chairez-Volakh, but the hosts came back to tie the game moments later.

After scoring the go-head goal at around the 50-minute mark, Hampshire rode that momentum to a 4-1 lead before Lenox was awarded a penalty kick late.

With about five minutes left, Mikey Hernandez was fouled inside the 18, and Chairez-Volakh buried the PK to provide the final score.

“Lenox showed incredible grit and heart playing up a division against a top ten ranked team,” Lenox coach Jedd Hall said. “Despite the loss it proved that they could compete against a very strong and capable opponent and the future is bright for this team.”

Jason Sibley stopped seven shots in goal for the Millionaires.

Lenox (1-1) is at Wahconah on Tuesday.
