PITTSFIELD, Mass. — A strong first-half performance helped the Hoosac Valley boys' soccer team to its second straight win on Monday. Seniors Nick Ryan and Matt Bresett each had a goal and an assist, as the Hurricanes did all of its scoring before halftime in a 3-0 road win over Saint Joseph's.

Junior Shaun Knapp got things started for Hoosac (4-2) in the 10th minute, taking a pass from Ryan and beating Crusaders' goalie Shaun Parzick. Bresett then made it 2-0 in the 28th minute, scoring his first goal of the season off of Steven Crouch's first assist of the year.

Bresett then hooked up with Ryan three minutes later, giving the Hurricanes a three-goal lead at halftime. Senior Tom Galisa (four saves) earned the win and his third shutout of the season in goal for Hoosac.

The 'Canes return to action with home game against Wahconah at 4 p.m. on Friday.
