'Canes Can't Get it Going against Generals

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. -- A turnover on the defensive end within the first two minutes of the game put the Hoosac Valley boys' soccer team behind, and the Hurricanes' offense never got it going in a 4-0 loss to Pittsfield on Saturday.

The Generals (4-3-2) found the back of the net just two minutes into the game and never looked back, outshooting the hosts 18-4 in the game. Junior Darian Chambers led the Pittsfield offense by netting a hat trick, while Harry Rich also scored in the win.

"We fought hard today, but unfortunately, as in every other game we seem to play, another player on the opposing team capitalized with a hat trick," Hoosac head coach Nate Girard said. "Two of the four goals were on defensive clearing mistakes that turned into turnovers, so the boys' hard work didn't pay off," Hoosac head coach Nate Girard said. "We worked hard with one total sub and things never got started for us. Again, we didnt take a lot of shots when the opportunity presented itself. If we ever want to get our first win of the season, we need to take shots. We need someone to step up and say, 'I want this ball at my feet and I want to be the one to finish some goals.'

"Until someone decides it is time to do that, we are going to continue to work in vain."

Girard said senior defender played a good game on the defensive end, while junior goalie Tom Galisa made 14 saves in a losing effort.

The Hurricanes (0-7-1) will try again for their first win of the season in a road game against Lee at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
