NORTH ADAMS, Mass. -- A goal by Putnam in the final minute of the first half didn't faze the McCann Tech boys' soccer team, which scored twice in a three-minute span early in the second half to earn a 4-1 win at home on Tuesday.

Junior Chad Raimer and senior Dylan Walker each found the back of the net within the first nine minutes of the second half to clinch the win for the Hornets (4-8-1). Raimer scored his second goal of the game off of a cross from freshman Shane Fuller in 46th minute. Less than three minutes later, Walker drilled home a headball of a corner kick from fellow senior captain Nate Gutmann.

"With less pressure on the field, our squad won the majority of the 50-50 balls and passed very well," McCann head coach Adam Kozik said. "Once again, everyone stepped up against this team and took risks, which helped to build individual confidence. The beautiful combination plays and resulting shots were nice to see."

Raimer got the hosts on the board in the 24th minute, finishing off a combination play with Gutmann. Fuller then increased the Hornets lead seven minutes later, taking a pass from Walker and scoring with a long shot into the upper-left corner of the goal. Tyler Tatro scored the Beavers' lone goal with 34 seconds left in the first half.

Connor Vazquez stopped seven shots in net for McCann, which also got a solid defensive game out of senior Jake Ziter. Eric Vazquez finished with 11 saves for Putnam.

The Hornets next hosts St. Joe's at 4 p.m. on Wednesday.
