The Mount Greylock girls and boys soccer teams each earned home field advantage into the Sweet 16 of their respective Division 5 State Championshp tournaments.

The Mounties were the highest seeds from Berkshire County in any of the state tournament brackets released on Monday by the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association.

The eighth-seeded Mount Greylock boys (7-5-5) await the winner of No. 25 Blue Hills and No. 40 Minuteman Regional in the tournament's round of 32.

Taconic's boys also are home in the first round in Division 5. The No. 13 Thunder (16-1-1) will host either No. 20 Brighton or No. 45 South Shore Christian, who meet in a preliminary round game.

No. 30 Lenox (5-11) will host its preliminary round match against No. 35 Hopkins Academy.

Hoosac Valley and McCann Tech each are in the tournament and on the road in the Division 5 boys bracket.

The No. 41 Hurricanes (10-6-2) make a relatively short trip to play Smith Academy in the preliminary round.

No. 37 McCann Tech (10-5-2) also stays in the 413 with a trip to No. 28 Granby.

In Division 4 boys, both Wahconah and Monument Mountain are home in the first round competing for a spot in the Sweet 16.

No. 11 Wahconah (8-7-2) will take on No. 22 Shawsheen Valley in the first round. No. 13 Monument Mountain (8-8-2) gets No. 20 Assabet Valley.

Five of the 47 teams in the Division 5 girls bracket call Berkshire County home.

A couple will be home in the first round.

No. 8 Mount Greylock (15-0-3 -- Tuesday's Western Mass tournament final does not count in the MIAA standings) will see either No. 25 Carver or No. 40 Westfield Tech, who play in the preliminary round.

Lenox (7-9-2) just missed out on being home in the first round and is seeded 17th, which means a trip to No. 16 Millis.

Drury (15-2-1) is seeded 21st, which means a preliminary game, but the Blue Devils will host it against No. 44 Prospect Hill.

No. 34 Mount Everett and No. 37 McCann Tech each is on the road in the prelims.

The Eagles (10-4-4) start the tournament with a long drive to Norfolk Agggie after Wednesday night making the shorter trip to Agawam High for the Western Mass title game.

The Hornets (10-5-2) travel to No. 28 Holbrook to contend for a spot in the round of 32.

The girls from Wahconah and Monument Mountain each earned a home game in the first round of the tournament in D4.

No. 12 Wahconah (5-9-4) hosts No 21 Malden Catholic in the round of 32. No. 14 Monument Mountain (10-5-3) is home against No. 19 Clinton.

As with all MIAA tournament brackets, there is technically a 24-hour period before they become official to allow schools to make appeals based on corrections to their records.
