NORTH ADAMS, Mass. -- See ya later scoring slump.

Coming into Monday's home contest against Saint Joseph's, the Drury girls' soccer team was mired in a three-game scoring drought. Thanks to Mariah Ferrara, however, the Blue Devils broke out of their slump in a big way, finding the net early and often in a 5-0 win at home.

Ferrara, a senior striker, scored twice in the first half and once more in the second to pace the Drury offense. She tallied her first strike in the seventh minute of the game, finishing off a pass from sophomore Alison Tassone. Ferrara then gave the Blue Devils (2-2-1) a 2-0 lead in the 23rd minute after being set up by Chelsea DeGroff. The junior forward also had a big day on the offensive end, collecting two assists while also scoring a goal with three and half minutes left in the first half to give the hosts a 3-0 lead at the break.

"We pressured the ball all over the field today," Blue Devils head coach Molly Meczywor said. "In addition, our forward line moved the ball incredibly well and created scoring opportunities through crisp passing. This game allowed our forwards and midfields to gain some confidence going into a week with several games. All of our players got into today's game, making it a true team victory."

Sophomore Cori Ghidotti also had an assist and a goal in the game, taking a pass from usual Drury goalie Ali Tatro and scoring on a breakaway with just under 15 minutes to go in the game. Tatro got some time in the field with the Crusaders (2-2-2) managing only two shots in the match. Tatro and sophomore Allison Meehan each made a save to combine for the shutout.

With the goalkeepers seeing limited action, Meczywor said middle defenders Danielle Racette and Amanda Ramsdell "communicated effectively in the backfield, stopping all attacks."

The Blue Devils next play at Mount Everett at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
