SPRINGFIELD, Mass. -- Senior Becky Daniels came up big in a big-time moment for the McCann Tech girls' soccer team on Friday. The Hornets' goalie came up with a clutch save on a penalty kick in the final minutes of the game to preserve a 2-1 road win over Renaissance. Daniels made 14 saves overall, allowing just one goal on a strike by Lauren O'Neil eight minutes into the second half.

Junior captain Mary Nguyen scored two goals for McCann, which improved its record to 3-1 this season. Nguyen got her team on the board quickly, finishing off a pass from classmate Alex Lincoln just 2:22 into the game. With 19 minutes to go in the game, Katie Hancock set up Nguyen for what would be the game-winning goal.

In addition to Daniels' big day between the pipes, Hornets' head coach Mike Dowling credited sophomore Danielle Gibeau for her efforts on defense.

McCann next plays at Mount Everett at 4 p.m. on Friday.
