HADLEY, Mass. –  Emily Steuernagle scored in overtime, and Emma Goewey stopped 15 shots to lead the Mount Everett girls soccer team to a 1-0 win over Hopkins Academy in the semi-finals of the Western Massachusetts Class E tournament on Saturday.

The third time was a charm for the Eagles, who tied Hopkins, 1-1, and lost to the Golden Hawks, 1-0, in their regular season meetings.

“I am just so proud of the girls for fighting through adversity, injuries, and finding a way to win today,” Mount Everett coach Joshua King said. :I was so proud of our play, effort, teamwork, and just ability to fight through today and win. These girls have done a great job all season and now get the chance to compete for a Western Mass Championship.”

Mount Everett (11-4-3) will play Smith Academy on Wednesday in the regional final at Agawam High School.
