WEST SPRINGFIELD, Mass -- Kathryn O'Brien scored twice and added an assist to lead the West Springfield girls soccer team past Hoosac Valley, 4-0, on Friday.

Hurricanes coach Kirstin Holmgren said she was proud of the way her team played on the road against a tough opponent despite the final score.

"They really gave the D 1 2013 [quarter-finalists] West Springfield a tough game today, and I could not ask for anything more," Holmgren said. "We are really looking forward to the rematch when they come to our place and play us on a grass field.  We played on a turf field today."

That rematch will be on Oct. 25 in Cheshire.

Megan Richardson was credited for 23 saves on Friday for Hoosac Valley (3-6-1), which hosts Frontier on Monday.
