CHESHIRE, Mass. -- The Hoosac Valley girls soccer team earned its second win of the season on Monday afternoon, defeating Taconic, 7-0.

The Hurricanes came out hungry, putting one in the net less than five minutes into the game with a shot from Madi Ryan assisted by Lily Kronick.

Two minutes later, Carah Cote became apart of the scoring rally; both Cote and Ryan added two goals in the first half.

At the 16-minute mark Maddie Vigna carried the ball up the middle of the field and sent it into the left wing of the 18, where Claudie Bresett got a foot on it putting in her first of two goals for the afternoon. The second came in the second half after beating the goalie to the ball as she came out of the net.

Hoosac Valley led at halftime, 5-0.

"We wanted to come out in the second half and work on possessing the ball, making good runs, and working on things that we as a program need to work on," Hoosac coach Kathy Budaj said. "They moved the ball well, we found the seams, slotted the ball, did a lot of things that we've been working in practice and it was nice to do it in the game, we're trying to get stronger and stronger every game."

Holding a pretty solid lead going into the second half, the Hurricanes had room to work; they switched out their, goalie putting in freshman Kelsey Bulson, who had three saves. They also switched around a few players, putting senior defender Cassidy McMahon up at the forward position.

"[Bulson] did well, she's a good keeper and she's been working hard," Budaj said.

McMahon recorded her first career goal -- after being moved to forward -- with 10 minutes reamining in the game; Bresett earned the assist.

Prior to her goal, she had a few other chances that were just short of hitting the net.

"She's a senior and has never scored, I'm happy for her," Budaj said.

The Hurricanes (2-2) travel to Frontier Friday afternoon.
