NORTH ADAMS, Mass. -- The Hoosac Valley girls soccer team defeated Drury Thursday afternoon, 4-1, at Drury High School.

The Hurricanes opened the scoring five minutes in to take a 1-0 lead. The score came from Carah Cote; Lily Kronick earned the assist.

Drury responded in the 22nd minute off a Jenna Moulton goal assisted by Celene Koperek to tie it 1-1.

Hoosac added one more before half-time to take a 2-1 lead going into the second half. Madi Ryan received the ball from Kronick inside the box and put it on net with 15 minutes and 19 seconds in the half.

"With Hoosac scoring first, it made us want to put more pressure on them, we both came out really hard in the first half," Drury coach Maryjane Rumbolt said. "By the end of the first half, it was looking like the game could have gone either way."

Kronick advanced the Hurricanes lead to 3-1 10 minutes into the second half, off a pass from Claudia Bresett. Bresett then added one of her own with 15 minutes remaining to secure a 4-1 Hoosac Victory.

"Hoosac came out strong in the second half and added those two goals to seal the game," Rumbolt said.

Drury goalie Katie Toomey had five saves in net and Hoosac's Kelsey Bulson had four saves.

Drury (2-10-2) hosts St. Joe's Friday afternoon at 4 p.m. Hoosac (4-9-1) hosts Southwick-Tolland on Saturday at 1 p.m.
